On tap at Morenos, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma has plenty of dark cocoa, medium roast, and a touch of burnt sugars. Flavour has burnt sugars, dark cocoa powder, some roast, light nutmeg, and unfortunately some tartness. Doesn’t really come together—jumbled and incoherent, totally unlike the original Xocoveza from Stone. It’s alright but definitely not hitting the right notes.

On tap at Morenos. Pours black with a beige head. Chocolate and spices on the nose. Flavour has cinnamon, nutmeg, chilies, cacao. Not as much roast as I was hoping for. Someone spilled the spice drawer I think.

Can. Black color with large beige foam. Aroma is cocoa, cinnamon, chili, not so much vanilla, pretty roasty too. Taste is the same, nice spices, pretty dry and bitter in the back, just a touch of chili bite. Would not have guessed 8%. Nice one!

Bottle at a mini-RB gathering in November. Poured a dark brown color with a light ruby edge on the glass. Medium sized tan, gray head. Aroma was a huge blast of roasted coffee, espresso, dark chocolates, and some light roasted chilies. More spice than in the Stone version of this beer.

65 cl bottle from menu. pours pitch dark with a dark brown small smooth head. aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, faint sourness, dark caramel, faint coffee. like an espresso chocolate stout, but the espresso sort of in the background. also vanilla and faint salty note, like licorice, could be wood. flavor is roasted malts, charred wood, chocolate, fainter vanilla, coconut, really good stuff and dry enough to not get way too sweet and cloying.

Very nice sweet Stout. Aroma is slightly subdued with lots of Cocoa, coffee, and dark malt. Average body and carbonation. Flavor is where this beer really shines with characteristics like aroma plus lots of complementary spices.
