22oz bottle pours a clear, dark caramel amber with some cloudy, white head. Nose has a ton of fresh wood shavings, minty, caramel, butterscotch. Flavor has a ton of witch hazel, wood shavings, caramel, butterscotch, some candy. Full, herbal finish.

Not sure how fair of a rating I can give here as this is a mixture of too elements I don’t usually cotton to much. That being said, overbarrelling works with scotch ales in a way it wouldn’t elsewhere. But the wood dominates this to the extent that I have splinters on my tongue after drinking it. Very bitter, quite boozy. Pours mahogany with OK head and lacing. Tap at scion.

Vanilla and caramel aroma. Apperence dark amber with a slight cream head smokey flavor with a long palate overtones of caramel. More on the bitter style

Served on draft at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown color with a medium offwhite head. The head lasts a bit and fades to a thin persistent layer on the beer’s surface. Decent lacing. Aroma of caramel, vanilla, oak, burnt sugar, apple. Taste is brown sugar, caramel, toffee, nuts, spicy wood, bourbon, vanilla and a faint fruitiness including notes of apple and peach. Smooth, medium-full bodied.
