Leichte Frucht in der Nase, recht viel Bodensatz. Im Trunk alkoholisch, Butterscotch, schwer zu fassen, Pflaumen-Apfeltorte, cremig.

Paper wrapped 0,33 l bottle (2020) from Poppinga, Gronau. Cloudy red brown with a more than one finger pale beige foamy head in the glass. Malty smell, caramel and wood, some sourness. Taste starts with roasted malt, woody, little boozy. Alcoholic bitterness in the second part and increasing dry dark malty. Present bitter hop. Also sticky sweetness in the background. Nearly no carbonation. Balanced. Strong. Nice.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, dark amber colour with average, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Caramel malty aroma with an oaky touch, whiffs of green wood, a cautious touch of toffee and nougat, minimally spicy overtones with a touch of liquorice. Taste is dry, caramel malty, slightly woody, oaky, a touch of toffee and nougat, little residual sweetness, mild hoppy counterpart with a minimally grassy touch, spicy overtones with a touch of liqourice. Minimally creamy, watery texture, smooth and soft palate, fine, soft, creamy carbonation. Neither overly rich nor intense but well crafted, well balanced, highly drinkable - pretty nice.
