Can from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown with a near tan head. Aroma seems citrus over dark malt. Med + body (lots of carbonation). Flavor is less than dry; dark malt; citrus and/or pine hop. This seems much smoother than many of the style. It is fairly/moderately/quite ? bitter. Hard to decide. It’s really good stuff. And black IPAs aren’t one of my favorite styles. This might change that.

12oz can pours with a dark mahogany colored body that supports a tall tan head. The aroma offers up lightly dark roasted malts, a flash of sweet malts and then some spicy and earthy hops. The taste delivers dark roasted malts, bitter chocolate, earthy bitter hoppiness, and then a mild sweet maltiness. Another sip brings about bitter black licorice and dark roasted coffee. Pretty nice but comes across roasty and bitter but actually lacking some in hops.
