Bottle at home from debierkonig Amsterdam, shared with Dad, 6th September 19. Pours thick and black. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, malts, roasty. Taste is rich, coffee, dark chocolate, light bounty sweet coconut. Fantastic Impy

Tap at Slow Beer, Fitzroy, Melbourne. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a thin tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, caramel, coffee, chocolate, vanilla. The flavour is moderate sweet, light alcohol bitter, with a smooth, super rich, chocolate, vanilla, oily palate and a lingering boozy finish. Full to medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Draft. A black beer with a thin dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, alcohol, and dark chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, prunes, and dark chocolate, leading to a bitter finish.

Bottle. Black. Fresh coffee and a hint of dark chocolate in the aroma. Full bodied, thick. Coffee and dark chocolate dominating the malty sweet flavor. Roast, coconut. Very nice.

Draught at the source: pours black with beige head. Aroma is loads of chocolate, coconut, hints of coffee. Taste is sweet chocolatey. Quite large. Tasty in general.

Black. Aroma is coconut chocolate vanilla deep melasses a little phenolic. Taste is roasty slight boozy sweet chocolate with good balance. Very smooth and drinkable. Nice.

Bottle bought at Hop Burns and Black, Peckham. Drunk at home. Black and viscous with almost no head. Smells of coconut with a bit of light ground coffee. The coconut and chocolate provide some sweetness, but there is a dogged bitterness closing on to the finish. Coconut dominates the aftertaste. Thick oily body. It's very good, but slightly more two-dimesional than many of Põhjala's big beers.

Keg at Põhjala Taproom, 20190618) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, baked coconut and sweetness. Palate was full bodied and sticky sweet with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, sweetness, baked coconut and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A way too sweet brew.
