Bottle. A brown beer with a small, dense off-white to beige head leaving some lacing. The aroma is malt forward, with bread, rye malt and toffee. Even some chocolate notes. Some fruity notes too. Caramel, toffee, pumpernickel and some chocolate in the flavor, with hints of dried fruits and spices. It's full bodied, with a nice carbonation level, and not too sweetish. Lasting bready, toffee-ish finish. Sure a nice bock, sure on the malty side. 171207

Bottle from Monster Magnet. European Local Swap. Yo. Earthy malty aroma, with spice notes. Darkest own. Opaque. Thin beige head. Low key bitterness. Spicy edge and finish - rye. Underlying burnt caramel.sweetness. Possibly served too cold. Thick bodied. Slick. A fizz of carbonation. Relatively abrupt finish. Leaves a warmth in the mouth. Well hidden ABV. Slips down easily.

Bottle at home. Dark brown color, light brown head. Very nice aroma and a light sweet taste. High in abv, but the taste is more smooth then you would expect with that.

330ml bottle, thanks to MonsterMagnet for the trade. Pours very dark brown, thin tan ring circling the head. Aroma has pleasant sweet caramel malts. Taste has an alluring blend of nutty chocolate, toffee, dried dark fruit, very faint coffee. Good strong, flavoursome doppelbock with good balance of flavours.

0.33 l bottle from ’Sterk Avondverkoop’, bottled in November 2016. Minimally hazy, dark reddish brown with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, light beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity-resiny aroma of caramel, milk chocolate, hazelnut, some citrus and a touch of pine. Rather sweet, malty, slightly roasty and a bit fruity-resiny taste of caramel, milk chocolate, hazelnut, some citrus and traces of pine, followed by a medium long, relatively bitter, quite resiny and a bit roasty finish. Above medium-bodied, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Interesting stuff, really tasty. Rather hoppy for a Bock, feels a bit inappropriate but it prevents it from being one of so many. Nice!

Flaske fra Holmens importkoffert, delt med skibsrederen ombord på Joffen: mørk brunrød med fint skum som varer. Innsmigrende aroma med mørke malter, dessertsjokolader, mørke bær, noen dråper syrlig kaffe, mørke karameller og noe lett urte/krydderaktig. Meget rund og behagelig smak med de samme elementer. Delikat bitterhet i avslutningen.

Bottle courtesy of MonsterMagnet, many thanks! Brown color with beige head. Aroma is spicy rye, caramel, toffee, chocolate. Taste is quite spicy from the rye, chocolate, bready. Low carbonation. Towards the end, a warming booziness jumps in. Well-balanced and nicely drinkable, very nice!
