Cascade and Columbus Hops present fresh pine and citrus characteristics, combined with the coffee and liquorice tones from our blend of roasted malts. For us, it’s all the things a Black IPA should be.

Bottle @ home. Opaque black color, full sized creamy light brown head that lasts for a long time and leaves fair to good lacing. Aroma is malts, hops, fruityness, mango, pine, pineapple, tropical fruits, slightly melon and peach. I miss roastyness, it’s lovely, but I want roastyness mixed with hoppyness in a Black IPA. Nevertheless, lovely aroma. Taste is malts, lots of hops, perfect bitterness, nicely fruity. Oh a lovely lovely beer, but imo this is not a blavk IPA, because it doesn’t have enough roasted malts. The thing is, I really love this beer and actually don’t want to say anything bad about it. It’s absolutely delicious, but as a black IPA, imo it misses roastyness. Still, don’t leave it in the store, delicious stuff!!

Bottle @ Ölstugan Tullen. Pours very murky dark chocolate brown with a huge frothy goldenish brownish beige head that slowly dissipates while lacing lots of sticky trace and lacing on the glass. Smell is malty and fruity with roasted malts, caramel, grapefruit juice, freshly cut grass, pine needles, lemon zest, sweet liquorice candy, roasted oatmeal flakes, bitter chocolate, resinous wood and orange zest. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter, malty and fruity with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, grapefruit juice, bitter chocolate, lemon zest, orange zest, pine needles, freshly cut grass, moist soil, salty liquorice candy, caramel, burnt cookies and hints of dried black currants. Mouthfeel is round, soft, slightly astringent and medium bodied. Finish is bitter, malty and fruity with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, salty liquorice candy, moist soil, resinous wood, lemon zest, grapefruit juice, pine needles and freshly cut grass. Glad a bottle of this was still around. Pretty sure it’s not a rebrew and if so it’s most likely faded a little... Irregardless of that it’s still a great beer! --- Beer merged from original tick of Black IPA Cascade Columbus on 07 Sep 2015 at 22:10 - Score: 7. På fat. Smak och doft av humle, malt, karamell, citrus med toner av choklad, laktris och tropisk frukt. Smakrik och fruktig med en trevlig beska med smak av grapefrukt, granskott och örter.

Draught at BrewDog Bar, Stockholm. Huge perfumy pear and grapefruit aroma. Salty with medium-full body and rounded mouthfeel. Dryish ans silky and licorice and grapefruit. Really bitter finish. Interesting stout/IPA hybrid.

Draught. Opaque black liquid with medium light tan head. Aroma of coffee, citrus, grass, pine, ash and biscuit. Taste is dry and high bitter with notes of pine, citrus, coffee and ash. A bit too bitter almost, the malt base can’t really support it. Lacks a bit of balance that way. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Nice to see a BIPA this hoppy from a Swedish brewery.
