Sweetwater Blue is a unique lighter style ale enhanced with a hint of fresh blueberry. When you drink this beer take a good whiff first and you’ll smell the blueberry influence, but on the taste it’s extremely subtle and the finish is extra clean. Ain’t no fruit beer, but it is our breakfast beer, usually folks that are looking to quench their thirst or for those that are new to the “good beer” lifestyle; this is their choice. This brew and the ESB were the original two to go through the tanks at SweetWater in February 1997.

Keg at the Beer Sellar, Nashville, 15/02/15. Pale golden with a moderate white cap. Nose is blueberry, sweet notes, straw, faint pale malts. Taste comprises blueberry syrup, straw, not as sweet as the nose suggested. Medium bodied, light prickly carbonation, semi drying close. So so fruit affair.

Sampled at Bier Baron DC pours a clear gold with some slim, white head. Nose has quite a bit of berry, some of that cheap blueberry muffin, lightly gristy, white flour. Flavor has just berry, not much else, some cheap artificial sweetness. Watery finish. Would not order again.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a slightly clear golden colored body with a half finger white foamy head that quickly dissipates and leaves a slight lacing around the sides of the glass.
The smell has strong notes of blueberry up front, slight wheaty/bready background.
The taste is pretty much the same, a combined blueberrywheat aftertaste, sticky sweet finish.
The palate is light, sessionable, carbonation is good for a blueberry beer and is good for me.
Overall, this is a good session blueberry beer.

Tap: Clear gold, with a small, off-white head. Blueberry muffin aroma. Very sweet, but not overly so.... Pretty good, authentic blueberry flavour... Restrained and pretty tasty.
