Bottle from Cork & Cask. Hazy golden body with a thin white head that fades. Steady carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of corn, tea leaves and smoked peat. Flavour of lime juice, green tea and a sour, smoky finish - very weird. Thin body with a light, fizzy mouthfeel. Not my idea of a good time.

330ml bottle from Eebria. Clear pale golden colour with a foamy white head leaving alittle lacing. Aroma of smoked meat, iodine, leafy tea. Taste is sour citric, with smokey & tea notes, plus some funk. Light bodied, soft to medium carbonation, drying salty finish. Nicely drinkable.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the Bottle Shop, Bermondsey. Pours perfectly clear yellow, effervescent, with a foamy white head that recedes a little quickly. There’s a good dose of smoke up front in the nose, and the rooibos follows quickly thereafter, along with notes of lemon, hay and maybe a little pineapple. Lightly sweet with quenching lemony tartness and mellow acidity, all underscored by a restrained smokiness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Lightly drying, tart and acidic on the finish, with touches of wheat bread, faint grass and straw, more rooibus, mild smoke. The flavour combinations seem a little disparate and jarring at first, but the more I drink of this the more I think it really comes together. Nicely harmonised and refreshing. Excellent work.

Keg @ Port Street Beer House, Manchester. Hazy straw-blonde with a thin head. Unnervingly well smoked for its bright light colour. Has a sourness in its aftertaste. There’s Ham flavours here.

330ml bottle @ Chez Sophie’s monthly beer club, Shrewsbury. Pours hazy gold, small off-white head. Aroma is smokey from the off. Definitely expect a big smoked ham malt body to follow but instead you’re faced with a light, crisp sour hit. Smokey echoes follow but essentially the lightly sour Berliner character of this beer keeps you sipping. Deliciously different. Love it.
