25th Feb 2016 at The Shrewsbury Beer Club tutored tasting evening. My first ever ’Lichtenhainer’ (I think). Cloudy straw colour with a wispy white head. Smoky Bacon Crisps on the nose, sour and tart feel to the taste. Preferred the aroma to the taste. Not really my thing sour beers. Scored kindly!

Keg at Small Bar, Bristol. It ours rich golden with a thick white head. The nose is rich smoked goodness, smoked cheese, earth, skips, red bush tea, dull baked beans and black tea. The taste is crisp, tart, earthy, lemon, tangy limeade, smoked cheese, campfire and black tea with a dry finish. Light - medium body and fine carbonation. Interesting and refreshing. A challenging style, but I like this one quite a bit.

Light haze on this gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is light, mildly dry and has a good fine minerally crispness. Thin malts. Mildly tart lemon - orange. The mid has floral tea and a mellow smoke. Some lemon tea on the back end, kinda Liptons. Light semi dry finish. Interesting to try and I enjoyed it, but I can’t imagine drinking another.

Bottle. Little Leeds Beer House. Opaque gold. Skim of white head. Nose has savoury smoke. Loose tea. Hint of fruit trying to push through. Mostly smoke, though. (Campfire tea?). Taste is smoky, salty, and savoury. Pretty dry. Minimal bitterness. Clean mouthfeel. Short, crisp, dry finish. Bit of a surprise how savoury this is. An acquired taste, possibly.

Tap@Hanging Bat, Edinburgh - golden pour with white head. Aroma and taste is slight herbal and floral and leafy, sprinkling of salt, has some almost fragrant earl grey tea notes going on, light to medium acidity, tartness on the palate, medium sour restrained citrus fruity notes, interesting brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
