A moderately strong English ale. The malt and the hops are almost evenly balanced, with a slight tendency to bitterness. It is essentially a very drinkable type of beer. Hops are used to provide bitterness, as opposed to the aggressive hoppy mid-palate and finish which is characteristic of American ales. This is a very broad style which gives brewers the opportunity for different interpretations.
