A unique twist to Downright is the dry hop addition of Saaz hops. This additional infusion of hops gives the beer an extra refreshing bite on the finish.

12 ounce bottle. Brassy bright gold with a firm ocky white head and clinging lace. Grainy nose. Crisp, bitter hos balanced by a light biscuit malt backbone. Spicy Saaz hop finish makes this a step above most American pilsners.

Tap at the brewery - well-executed, hoppy, Czech-style Pils - clean, bready malt, leads to a dry, crisp finish - floral and grassy hops swell to a bitter, but not abrasive finish - lacks nuance, but a straightforward take without flaws, which is more than a lot of American Brewers can pull off.

Bottle from Total Wine, Gainesville. Pours clear golden with the tiniest dusting of a white head. Aroma of oyster crackers and leaves- I almost want to say a hint of smoke, but perhaps that’s coming from the fireplace. Flavor is toast crumbs, grass, leaves, light herbal notes, and bread crust. Not a huge fan of pilsners usually. I guess this isn’t bad.

2 month old bottle into a tulip. A: Tawny mostly clear gold pour with a small tight frothy head. A few big slow bubbles rising. Decent retention and spotty lace. S: Lightly toasted white bread/dough smell. Faint spicy floral hops. T: Very bready but with a nice strong hop kick providing bitter bite and resin without overwhelming the malt. Bold flavors (for a pils) in very nice balance. M: Lively carbonation. Refreshing and drinkable but not too light. Dry resinous finish. O: Very good pilsner that I will buy again when I can find it.

Sampled from bottle @ ChrisO’s after GBBF Day 1. Clear pale golden color, small white head. Smell and taste some malts, moderately bitter, hayish and lightly grainy. Decent body and carbonation. Quite decent I’d say.
