Winchester loves being the center of attention, so he is not excited about Castiel following in his brewing footsteps. However, the rest of us at 1st Republic Brewing are excited to share our new Dark American Lager with you. This dark, slightly sweet and smooth drinking beer is the perfect fall companion. Low hop bitterness and mild maltiness make this an easy drinker suitable for year-round enjoyment.

Can from 1st Republic Brewing Company. Went through a four pack.
Each time, the can was poured into a becher pint glass.
Appearance: dark brown close to black in the body with a one to two finger foamy white head dissipated slow enough to leave subtle sticky lacing
Aroma: wonderful blend of roasty, toasty & bready malts, some ashy/char tones, cocoa powder and sweet earthiness
Flavor: previously noted aromas wrap up sweetly with some bitter earthy roasty & toastiness to balance
Texture: medium bodied with a ton of smoothness, well balanced
Overall: a very nicely done black lager more than worthy of picking up another four pack the next chance I can.

Can pour from trade with AirForceHops--thanks, Chris! Opaque dark brown with light sparkle, thin head with fair retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong roasted earthy malt, molasses, hint of dark fruit. Taste follows aroma minus the hint of dark fruit. Smooth texture, lively carbonation and crisp finish as taste. A bit over carbonated but a tasty dark lager.

Undated can from the brewery cooler, drunk 7/26/24. Clear, dark. Small, dark beige head steadily to spotty cover. Sweetly malty with seemingly decent base malt character creating more of a caramel than a dry, roasted character. Clean with some minerality on the finish. Lightly-to-moderately malty character showing the base malt amply enough. Clean, dry, not over-roasted. Very competently and pleasantly done.

16 oz can. Aroma is light chocolate, soft roast, light earth. Flavor is malt focused showing mild chocolate, light earthy hints a d perhaps caramel. Body and carbonation are normal. As the style calls for.
