Bottle from Bine & Vine. Pours very dark brown/black with a slight, transient tan head. Aroma is sort of smoky treacle. Full bodied. No smoke, but lots of treacle. Lots of near burnt malt. It’s quite smooth, nearly silky. No heat. The treacle level may account for the disparities in ratings. Finishes treacle, but not incredibly sweet. Either the scorched malt or the hop? is adding enough bitter to arguably balance.

Bottle. Pours with a near black hued body and a large brown head. Aromas are of molasses, milk chocolate, burnt candy, very estery. Dark fruit, floral hops and bakers chocolate. Flavors are quite metallic and burnt. Molasses, rough roast, acrid. Very harsh. Burnt and astringent, ashy. Over use of dark molasses (I have done it at home). Bitter. Very messy. Fuller carbonation, off-dry.
