Nose of very ripe dry fruit. The beer starts smooth and sourish-fresh. Roast, bitterness, dark roasted grains. Sticky, way stickier than 5.5%. Round, ripe dry fruit! And very dry. Smooth beer, round, great. A bit bitter-roasted in the end.

Notes from 2012. From bottle. Very dark color, but not quite black or opaque. Beige head - bottom layer is dense, top is uneven with bigger bubbles. Aromaβs: malty sweet, dark malts, roasted, light drop/zoethout (licorice), aniseed. Also light coffee retronasal. Flavor is roasted, light sweet, moderate bitter. Medium bodied, not bad for 5.5%. Long finish, droppig, moderate to full bitter, a little ash. Very nice!

Irish-inspired dry stout with creamy, dense, yellow beige, sticky head and dark burgundy colour, transparent and clearly not as black as usual in this style but still pretty, cristal clear. Pretty straightforward aroma of espresso and black coffee grounds, bitter chocolate, caramel, bayleaf and very faint cloves, toasted bread, subtle iron touch but not disturbing, cookies, raisins and a weak hint of cooked vegetables. Soft and fluffy mouthfeel with subdued sweetishness, hint of candi syrup and raisins, bit metallic, creamy but lacking a bit in body; caramelly malts dominate the middle phase, roasted bitterness comes up in the end, drying, with a slight sourish accent as well as herbal hop bitterness, but the caramelly malt sweetness also persists. In all: okay for the style, nothing out of the ordinary here, but delivering what it promises and in that sense simply enjoyable.

Bottle, thanks to MisoW. Aroma sweet, dark, chocolate, milk ch. Clear very dark brown colour. Okay head. Light to moderate astringency from reckless use of roasted malt, at least to my taste. Breached the delicate border of unpleasantness. Other than that classic roasted flavours. Good, but not my favourite.
