After many years of pushing Westcoast IPA like someone with chicken legs in a strongman competition, we are finally getting to revel in the return of the dry, crushable, and bitter laser-beam of hop perfection that is the Westcoast IPA. To celebrate its return to prominence and adoration we put together what we think is the perfect amalgamation of classic Westcoast with new school hops and hopping techniques. Westcoast Slang gets inundated with hops from the middle of its boil all the way through the whirlpool, and again with a ridiculous double dry-hopping of Mosaic, Nelson, Simcoe, and Strata hops in all forms available to us. The goal, producing a beer that melds the Westcoast hops of yore with the newest killer hops being grown, in a package that is absolutely saturated with hop resins and aromas of rio red grapefruit wedges, candied pomelo, passion fruit, gooseberries, chenin blanc wine grapes, strawberries, blue diesel nugs, pine sap, and hints of wild berries. Aromas are just slightly old resin, citrus rind and a hint of MJ. Flavors are somewhere to nose with citrus coming out more. Also slightly putrid sweet. Leans bitter in the finish with a bit more MJ.

Can from the San Mateo brewpub to glass. Vibrant sauv blanc and pineapple aroma. Moderate gooseberry. Pours slightly hazed light gold. Puffy, moderate off-white head that lingers fairly long with a moderate cap over the top. Bubbles are slightly soapy. Flavors are pine, citrus and forest floor. Moderate high bitterness.
