Sample at GABF 10/11/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. The beer is brownish-black with a medium tan head and a partial top ring of lacing. Aroma of chocolate, malt and vanilla. Medium body with flavors of chocolate malt, vanilla and subtle oaky bourbon. The finish is slightly boozy with a cocoa aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown/blk with a dark tan head. Aroma seems chocolate. Med body. Flavor is like a dark milk chocolate. Probably a touch of coffee and certainly smooth burnt malt. It was certainly tasty enough to contain bourbon/vanilla, but sadly I wasn’t detecting that.

On tap at Apex in Portland, split with Matts_Property, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of muted chocolate, roasted malt. Flavour of chocolate, vanilla and roasted malt. Pretty standard, but well-made.

On tap, sampled blind. Pours with a deep brown body and a minimal tan head. Aromas of vanilla, licorice, candies, cotton candy, cocoa, molasses. Very sweet, light esters, no hops. Flavors of vanilla, cream soda, light smoke, chocolate, cocoa, sweet, donuts. Sweetness lingers through the finish, but thankfully isn’t quite cloying. Medium bubbles. Was shocked to here the ABV! Tasty.
