Tap at St. Francis. Embarrassingly yeasty, unfiltered thick brown tan body. Creamy off-white/beige head. Sweet chocolate aroma. Rich and chewy, the excess yeast gives it a milkshake feel. Pretty enjoyable overall, though not on the same level as a good German example. Slight warming feel underneath the brown chocolate tones. No off flavors, captures the style well enough. Decent.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a very dark brown with a gray head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has noted of butterscotch and roasted malts that don’t meld. Flavor has a stong note of butter scotch with just a hint of dark grains and roasted malt.
