Sampled from a large ceramic bottle this beer poured a caramel-brown color with a small beige head that lingered and left no lacing. The aroma was tart and citric with Sweettart candies and bits of must and chalk. The flavor was dry, tart and chalky with light berries, lemon and a touch of windex. A bit medicinal. The finish was long, dry and tart berries and chalk. Medium body. Interesting.

750mL ceramic bottle, pours hazy golden orange with a beige head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, caramelized sugar, orange, nutmeg, cinnamon and sour fruits. Flavour of various spices (including the aforementioned nutmeg and cinnamon, a la a winter ale), caramelized sugar and sour fruits. Interesting experiment - quite enjoyable.

Pours deep brown into a tulip. Off-white micro head with excellent retention recedes to coat surface. Sweet molasses and licorice aromas. Thick with sweet aspirin and licorice from front to back. Dusty nuts, oats and yeast in the lasting finish.

750 from South Bay Drug. Pours hazy and rubyish. With a beige foamy head. Aromas of lighter fruits, brown sugar and roast caramel. Medium plus body with mild carbonation. Flavor is smooth roast caramel with some fruit and lurking anise. Sort of a mild, fruity, low ABV barley wine. Seems to be a touch of toffee or treacle. Drinks very easily. Very tasty.

If there is licorice in this, I didn’t taste it. But Draught. Poured mahogany brown with thick head. Aroma of currants, caramel and raisins. Full sweet malty flavour, more raisiny and caramel nots, but always with enough bitterness to keep this from getting cloying. Lasting bitter finish, I’m still tasting it, a half an hour later. On an unrelated note, I can imagine Robin Hood drinking this.
