Nothing hits in sauna quite like a refreshing helles!
Here’s our take on the perfect sauna beverage. Saunakalija is a true German style pale lager. It’s light, crisp and moderately bitter. To make it even more refreshing, we pumped up the carbonation to the max.
As you might have guessed from the label, this lager was crafted with (and most importantly for) our favorite local public sauna – Koivurannan saunalautta.
Until now, Saunakalija was exclusive to Koivurannan saunalautta. But good news: this time, we’ve set aside some cans for our brewery shop as well!

Can from S-Market (the one under the Sokos department store), Oulu. Post-sauna, of course. Light hazy-opaque gold. Thin frothy foamy translucent white head. Aroma is chewy and doughy with an earthiness and citrus light sour edge. Flavourwise it's sweet with a sour edge over doughy malts. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. OK Helles bur, to be honest, I really just want more water.

Negligible smell. Hazy golden colour, high white head. Aroma of malt, grass, some bread. Lively soft carbon. Lightly bitter. Clean and nice.

0,44l can from K-Citymarket Palokka, enjoyed @ Kinnula. Pours cloudy golden with a huge head, gushing out of the bottle. Aroma is clean malts. Flavor is clean sweet grainy malts with some hops. Decent.
