This Belgian-style Strong Dark Ale was brewed with our friends from Belgium’s De Struise Brouwers and aged in bourbon barrels. De Struise’s deft hand in recipe creation has combined with Cigar City’s adroit barrel aging skills to create a monumental collaboration that is superlatively, unquestionably and indisputably Absolutely Okay.

Draft @ Beavertown Extravaganza'17. Brune foncée voire noire, col fin blanc-cassé laissant un filament doré au verre. Arôme garde un très bon bouquet de quad, fruits noirs - figue et dates, pruneaux sec, effluves de barrique de Bourbon en retrait, pointe d'ester de levure. Palais est plaisant, renforcé par les 12% mais restant complexe, fruits noirs - bourbon goodness, le tout avec un effet de caramélisé fruité rappelant un apple brandy. Figue, fruits confits, prunes + once de vanille en fin de bouche. Malté caramel, crystal et pâle, léger chocolaté?

Booze barrel and prune. A little strong on the latter like firemen. Dark brown pour without much head or lacing. Syrupy texture. Bittersweet finish. A little citrus. Tap at Churchkey.

750ml bottle thanks to Kyle. Pours out dark brown almost black topped with a tan head. Nose is big sweet malts chocolate pit fruit roast malts some marshmallow. Taste is more of the rich thick sweetness bourbon barrel vanilla.

Tap@MBCC May 2017, Copenhagen - pours black with a beige head. Sweet and toasted malty aroma and taste, brown sugar, caramel, dried fruits, roasted accents, some rich chocolate and nutty notes, rocky road, some spices and vanilla come together in the finish.

Bottle thanks to Roberto. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is licorice, dark chocolate, roast, wood, spice. Medium body, similar flavors to nose, nice sweetness, very boozy, enjoyed this.

Draught at MBCC. Green Session. Shiny naked surface, black body, scattered lacing. Delicate aromas of mid-dry chocolate nose, hints of dark berries. Rich taste of vanilla chocolate, dark berries, wood and bourbon. Lingering roasted malty ending, dry. Full bodied. lovely slow sipper. (Copenhagen 13.05.2017).

Tap, sample. Tasted on the 13/05/2017 at MBCC (Copenhagen). Dark borwn colour with a small tan head. Aroma of bourbon barrels, coffee, vanilla, liquorice and malts. Taste is complex with roasted malts, caramel, bourbon, liquorice and drak fruits. Dry alcoholic and chocolate finish. Next one please!
