St. Stefanus Blonde Ale is stamped with the vaguely impressive ‘anno 1295’ and the flowing signature of its brewmaster, Jef Versele. Created from three different types of yeast and matured for a minimum of 3 months, is a Belgian abbey beer brewed according to a monastic tradition dating back to 1295. Produced through top fermentation and refermentation in the bottle, it matures over time, offering a unique evolution of aromas. There is no time limit on the aging process - only the master distiller decides when it's ready by taste is it bottled. On the one hand, the Augustinian order of Sint Stefanus dates back to 1295 in Ghent, Belgium. On the other hand, the name Augustijn has been licensed to Brouwerij Van Steenberge for commercial production since 1978. Ingredients: water, barley malt, rice, sugar, hops, yeast.

L'aroma in bocca porta i segni di caramello, miele, liquirizia, agrumi, spezie, arancia rossa, frutta passita, burro, pepe bianco, zolfo e umami.

330 ml bottle. Pours a hazy copper color with lots of carbonation and a light foamy head. Aromas of bready malts, dry honey, florals, and a bit of Belgian yeast. Flavors follow same with a bit of fruit. Seems heavy for the style. OK.

Bottle: Poured an amber/orangey color ale with a large foamy head with OK retention and some lacing. Aroma of sweet malt notes with some peppery yeast notes. Taste is also a mix of sweet malt notes with some peppery yeast notes and some light alcohol notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Good Belgian ale with good drinkability.
