Dark like a stout, but hoppy and bitter in flavour like an IPA! A rich blend of malts gives Crowstone its intensely dark, almost black colour, while serious quantities of fresh New World hops provide tropical citrus flavour and aroma. Crowstone is the beer that runs Legra close (or surpasses it?) for awards
The Crowstone, at Chalkwell, is the north bank Thames “London Stone” marking the ancient limit of the port of London.

Cask at the Cock Tavern - Hackney. Pours clear brown with a tight, creamy latte cap. Light-medium sweet flavour with lots of charred pine, baking cocoa, earth, coffee. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Earthy finish, more bitter dark chocolate, sturdy roast, bitter oily pine. Good toothy CDA.

440ml can, 5.5 % abv, bought at Hopsters in Chelmsford. Shared with Finn and lmojoh. Decent beige head over a deep black body. Rings of lace down the glass. Inviting dark malt-fruity aromas, dark caramel and pine. Well balances taste of caramel, black chocolate, and pine needless. Roasted malt-fruity bitterness to the ending. Medium bodied. Well crafted this one. (Tromsø 16.12.2021).
