Dark like a stout, but hoppy and bitter in flavour like an IPA! A rich blend of malts gives Crowstone its intensely dark, almost black colour, while serious quantities of fresh New World hops provide tropical citrus flavour and aroma. Crowstone is the beer that runs Legra close (or surpasses it?) for awards

The Crowstone, at Chalkwell, is the north bank Thames “London Stone” marking the ancient limit of the port of London.

Cask @ Chelmsford Beer Festival. Nice head with good duration. Color is close to black. Aroma and taste are fruits, roast malt, grass, chocolate, hops and has a nice bitter finish.

Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at the Pig's Ear Beer Festival, London 7/12/2017. Near black in colour, with a thin, off-white, head. A pleasant black IPA, with smoe citrus hops, tangerine and red berry fruits, slightly bready malts and a dryish finish.

Cask (gravity) @ 34th Pig's Ear Beer and Cider Festival 2017, at The Round Chapel in Hackney, London, England.

[ As Leigh on Sea Crowstone ].
ABV: 5.5%. Clear medium to dark red brown colour with a small to average, frothy - fizzy and open, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark malt, roasted, moderate to heavy hoppy, pine, spruce, citrus. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, pine, dark malt, licorice. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20171206]
