Reviewed from notes.
Bottle to tulip.
Appearance: dark brown close to black in the glass, finger's worth of eggshell white foamy head which dissipated slowly to leave some light lace
Aroma: big roasted dark malts, woody/barrel sweet & semi-spicy tones, sweet earth, subtle black licorice, light vanilla and a touch of maple syrup.
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas to a fine sweet to spicy quality underscored by a light roasty tone; finishes smooth sweet mapley and malty
Texture: medium bodied, great sipper, pretty smooth along the tongue
Overall: pretty nicely done barrel aged impy stout by Foley. I'd want another one of these to see how it ages.

From my brother at a bottleshare: ppurs oily black. Aroma is maple, chocolate, no roast. Taste is maple, boozy, tingly, hits you on the head. Noticeable hop character. Some bitter aftertaste. Large and powerful. I like that the whisky takes a backseat.
