Perhaps it was a way to motivate us into producing beer, or maybe it was a desperate hint at a Birthday gift. Either way, David Walker cornered us one day and asked for a sour cherry fermented beer for his 50th birthday. Nothing more was said, but we took note and the opportunity to create something new. On the occasion of David’s golden jubilee, we celebrate his mid-life mortality check with Walker’s Krieky Bones! This beer begins its life as a Flanders Red style beer aged eight months in a 2200 gallon French Oak Foeder, sour cherries were added and allowed a secondary fermentation. The aroma is of cherry pie complete with flavors of piecrust and spicy notes. Vienna malt notes give way to assertive acidity and firm carbonation to finish. A santé and happy 50th birthday David!

Draft at Snallygaster 2016. (Batch #2). Poured a pretty clear, dark ruby red color with a small light pink head. Aroma was lots of cherry notes, cherry skin. Tart fruit notes. Berry juice, tart notes, light balsamic tartness. Very tasty.

6 oz pour on draft at Snallygaster 2016. Batch #2. Clear ruby red with off-white head. Aromas of berries, tart stone fruit. Tastes of berries, cherries, light vinegar. Medium body with a dry finish. Delicious.

Sample at Kurtkeller 023: Firestone Walker-tastic 01 on 06/18/2016. The beer pours a clear ruby-orange color with a thin white head that dissipates quickly to a sparse outer ring. Short strings of lacing. The aroma consists of cherry, oak and yeast. Light to medium body with a tart cherry character and notes of oak and yeast. The finish is oaky and fruity with a sour cherry aftertaste. Good beer all around.

On tap at Fred Fest. Pours a bright reddish color with a medium white head. A big sour cherry nose. Wood, cherries, deep sweet cherries and a larger tannic sour oak. Big flavor. Quite nice.

375ml bottle thanks to Toby. Pours out a amberish color. Nose is cherries vanilla barrel notes. Taste is more of the barrel notes vanilla cherries and some sweetness along with a nice tart.
