14/5/2021. Bottle bought direct from Cottage Delight. Pours dark amber red with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma of malty drinking chocolate, dried fruits, molasses, toffee, fruit cake. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Medium body, soft carbonation. Bittersweet finish. Started well but became quite watery and clammy.

500ml bottle from Melbicks Garden Centre, Coleshill. Eye - dark ruby red, small creamy off white to beige head, excellent retention. Nose - richness, malty, chocolate and liquorice. Taste - toasted malts in the prominent element but there is some chocolate and liquorice, some minor spice and mild bitter finish. Palate - smooth medium body and low carbonation. Overall - its not the most flavoursome or complex of ales but there are some nice elements with a great mouthfeel. Its like what a John Smiths should taste like.
