Taking its name from the local tides that sweep around the North end of Storma, Swelkie is a variation of First Footing. Like our first ale it blends Challenger and cCascade hops with Amber Malted Barley, but we’ve made the hops a little lighter. An unmissable session ale with flavours that will whirl pleasingly around the tongue.

Cask (gravity) @ NBF 2016 [ The 41th. Nottingham Beer Festival (The 9th Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival) ], Nottingham Castle, Friar Lane, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England NG1 6EB. [ As John O’Groats Swelkie ].Clear medium orange amber colour with a small, fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, sweet malt, caramel, sugary, pale malt. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, sweet malt, caramel, sugary. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20161015] 5-3-6-3-11

On cask @ SRAF. Hazy yellow. The nose is rotten eggs and there’s a general sulpur thing dominating. You can make out some biscuit but it’s in a cloud of compost bin Looking at other ratings, it would appear this wasn’t showing at its best.
