With flavours of malt loaf and biscuits this beautifully balanced bitter is incredible moreish with a subtle floral finish from British hops. It truly is the Bestest.

Cask at Cherry Reds, Birmingham. Poured a slightly hazy dark amber colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is malt, light woody hops. The flavour is moderate to light bitter, with a light, slightly watery, malt, light citrus, light woody hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask at Wickstead Arms, Nantwich. Pours a bright copper with a small foamy off-white head and good lacing. There’s a vague aroma of nuts, but not much else. Mouthfeel is quite sweet with a watery texture. Malts of the fore with bread rolls and slight fruitiness. Later on traditional hops start to assert themselves, and the finish is slightly bitter. Just a bog standard bitter really.

Cask at Akurrat, Stockholm. Funny to see another West Sussex beer here at Akurrat - perhaps there is some connections. Some smokish malts in the aroma. Caramel bitter colour. Easy going bitter with some hoppage evident. Have missed the supreme drinkability of bitters. Looking forward to glugging away next weekend.

Pig’s Ear Fest. Cask. Lightly hazy gold beer, thin pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth, semi dry and has modest fine carbonation. Slightly grainy malts. Insipid orange peel hops. Light semi dry finish. Not the worsterist but getting there!
