Tulip draft at Rye in Leawood, Kansas. The pour is a hazed golden yellow with a small white head. The aroma is fresh apricot fruit, soft tart and earthy grassiness. The taste is fresh natural apricot fruit, softly sweet, softly tart along with more general funk and finishing with the dry grass and earth of the nose. The palate is medium bodied, soft carbonation and funk finish. Clean, well done beer.

500 ml bottle. The beer is a light tan yellow color. Clouded through. Small white head, fizzles off quickly. Earthy funk in the aroma. Nice apricot flavor, skin and juice. Taste is fairly dry. Nice, refined fruit flavor. Lots of yeasty earthiness to it. Light herbal note. Some prickly carbonation with a light body. Good stuff.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 2/20/2017. Pours hazy medium golden/yellow color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tart lemon, lime, apricot, peach, pear, melon, green apple, white grape, wheat, cracker, hay, straw, and grass; with light musty/leathery funk, white wine vinegar, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, apricots, and pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart lemon, lime, apricot, peach, pear, melon, green apple, white grape, wheat, cracker, hay, straw, and grass; with light musty/leathery funk, white wine vinegar, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness and light yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, apricot, peach, pear, melon, green apple, white grape, wheat, cracker, hay, straw, grass, pepper, light vinegar/funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, apricots, and pale malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tartness balance; and zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from tartness/acidity, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp/acidic/grainy, and lightly tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.3%. Overall this is a great fruited sour/wild ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, apricots, and pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink with the modest acidity/tartness. Well rounded Brett/Lacto complexity, great apricot fruit balance, and a solid malt backbone. A very enjoyable offering.
