Telex is the last of our Field Recordings trilogy exploring barrel aged stouts with classic flavours.
The base beer has been aged in a combination of whiskey, rum, and Rioja wine barrels, which were carefully selected to highlight the chocolate. The whiskey barrels provide soft vanilla and oak notes, the rum barrels contribute a subtle warmth and spice, while the red wine barrels bring a rich, tannic depth.
We’ve used a generous amount of Colombian cacao nibs to infuse Telex with deep, rich chocolate flavour. Expect the smoothness of dark chocolate with a slight acidic edge. ; Just like the vanilla and coffee versions we’ve brewed in the last 12 months, it’s luxurious, it’s decadent, it’s satisfying.

Can. An almost black one, with a small beige head. The aroma has roasted malts, licorice, coffee hints and a light spiced hint. It's full to medium bodied and gently carbonated, sweet, with flavors of roasted malts, dark dried fruit and some toffee. Hints of licorice. Lasting finish. Nice indeed. 241228

200ml draught at Tromsø Mikrobryggeri. Almost black in the glass, scattered lacing from a patchy surface. Aromas of carefully roasted chocolate malts, mid-dry. Very well balanced and smooth taste of chocolate, dark caramel, oak and backed by cocoa notes towards a long-lived ending. Very smooth, and with warmth from the alcohol. Full bodied slow sipper. One of my best beer so far this year. (Tromsø, 11.12.2024).

Svart. Lavt skum med litt farge. Aroma av lakris & sjokolade. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken sammensatt. Mye. Eik. Spor av whisky. Balansert. Alkoholen veldig godt kamuflert. Skummelt lettdrikkelig.

25/11/2024. Can bought at North Taproom: Sovereign St, Leeds. Enjoyed back at my Leeds hotel with outstanding views over the railway lines. Fitting for a quite outstanding beer such as this. Pours black with a small tan coloured head. Aroma is rich, chocolate, roasted malt, cacao, whiskey, caramel, lightly woody, red wine. Medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness. Quite full bodied, smooth and oily, soft/low carbonation. Picks up alternating notes from the whiskey, rum and rioja. Extremely drinkable.
