Our Rauchbier is a dark lager filled with huge smoke-filled character derived from a blend of quality German malts.

Dark mahogany with a creamy off-white head and an immediate full-on bonfire-bacon aroma that quickly starts to reveal layers of vanilla, raspberry, coffee, toffee, maple syrup and chocolate. There’s a lot going on and different characteristics come to the fore with every sip, but it’s a refreshingly light and easy drinking beer; the smokiness gently subsiding as the layers are peeled away, leading to a smooth, sweet finish.

Can from The Beer Cave. Dark brown body with a thin beige head that fades. No visible carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of smoked malt and antique store. Flavour of copper penny and smoked malt. Thin to medium body with a slick texture. Light fizz. It’s nice and smoky but I didn’t find it particularly moreish.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - deep brown, and agree with mahogany. Thin off-white head. Nose - burnt toffee, brown bread and prunes. Then the smoked note comes through beautifully. Taste - starting with the smoked ham this time, still bready and still dry fruit. Palate - medium plus bodied, rich and sweet and then the smoke dries out the finish nicely. Overall - lovely gear!
