The India Pale Ale of Spitsbergen is a strong and top-fermented beer, using predominantly pale malt. Like the first IPAs made for export to India in 1703, ours is packed with hops to get that fine bitterness to it.

Can, batch 34. Pours hazy golden, with a massive creamy head. Aroma is nice hoppy peaches, stone fruits and citrusy notes of tangerine, as well as bitter notes of pine and some balancing malts. Medium body, with soft to average carbonation. Flavour is bitter resin and spruce, zesty herbal notes and minerals, as well as light malts with cereals and toffee. Lingering bitter finish.

On tap at Den Glade Gris, Oslo. Clear deep golden to amber, with an off-white head. Hoppy aroma with pine, some fruits and hints of citrus. Some malty and slighty buttery notes and hints of caramel too. Medium sweet with medium flavour intensity and a balanced bitterness. Tasty and and fairly easy to drink, but origin is more exciting than the flavour.

A bit to much buttery notes for my pleasure. Still a decent nice hoppy ale.
Hazed golden color with a fine thick off white head. Looks great. Good lacing. Good intensity in the aroma. Medium (+) body and a fine softish carbonation. Tad sweet and a bit to weak bitterness to back it up. Oily texture. Citric, pine, some butter caramel and fruity flavor.

500ml draught outside in the sun at Den Glade Gris. Good lacework from a pearl white head that stayed for quite a while. Misty orange coloured body. Dusty hops and sappy citrus nose. Succulent fruity taste of orange, mid-sweet. Lingering, bittersweet ripe citrus ending. Soft in the mouth. Well bodied. Refreshing and tasty (Oslo 10.05.2016).
