The India Pale Ale of Spitsbergen is a strong and top-fermented beer, using predominantly pale malt. Like the first IPAs made for export to India in 1703, ours is packed with hops to get that fine bitterness to it.

0.33l can. This one pours a nice honey golden colored body with a big lasting and lacing off-white head. On the nose it's quite nice also. Peachy and sweet fruity, citrus fruits and lots of piney hops. Really inviting and a nice fresh aroma in this. Tastes good also. Really malt driven. It has a good oily texture in the mouth and it's just about average on the carbonation. Thick flavors. Really piney, almost a little too malty for an IPA, but it's sure tasty. Even though it comes straight from the fridge, it's still somewhat temperated in the taste. Mild bready tail. Nice one. 10.09.2016

Huge beige lasting head. Clear coppery still body. Resiny gooseberry jam aroma with spicy tropical fruit notes. Sweetish resiny gooseberry taste with spicy wooden notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish resiny wooden aftertaste with gooseberry jam notes. Yeah, it’s pretty much the same the whole way through, but complex and harmonic. An excellent IPA. Very well done. (0.33l can, from wine monopoly, Strømmen.)

Big thanks to Rune for this can and to Rasmus for swapping it for the porter. Hazy gold beer, good cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Light malts, fluffy creamy sweetness. Trace of milky sweetness. Some minerals. Decent hops - bitterish orange and a little peel. Hop spice and mild pine. Whisper of mango. Light finish. It’s a fine IPA and amazing to think this was brewed all the way up in Svalbard. Bravo!

330ml can in a cabin in the Tamok Valley, Northern Norway. Drunk from the can so no comment on appearance. Good fruity hop aroma. Considering where this was brewed, it’s surprisingly well balanced and full of fresh hop flavour. Alternating shades of bitter orange, apricot and lime citrus come into play with a lingering bitter finish. Very enjoyable, flavoursome IPA.

Boks 330ml fra Vinmonopolet Tromsø - Sentrum. Drukket på Lillehøgda 3 Okt 16. Gyldenbrun. Litt uklar. Lavt kremaktig skum med litt lacing. Utmerket aroma av aprikos & søt frukt. Smaken blandet frukt. Litt søt - men blir raskt tørr & behagelig bitter. Avslutter ekstra tørt. Ga mersmak.

330 ml can. Slightly unclear, deep golden body with a fine, lacing, creamy off-white head. Aroma has malt, caramel, citric fruit and some oranges. Flavor has a fine, balanced malt base, some caramel, citric fruit, bread, orange zest and balanced bitterness. Fine smooth body and good aftertaste. A classic, solid American IPA.
