This is based on the same recipe as our Chocolate Porter, but with vanilla extract added at the bottling stage instead of chocolate extract. The vanilla adds a lovely dimension to the flavour/aroma profile.

Bottle from Vine and Grain. Appearance - lively on opening. Beige to tan head. Nose - creamy chocolate, ashy and a little meaty. Taste - savoury and burnt chocolate. Smoky finish. Palate - medium bodied, creamy texture. Malty/smoky finish. Overall - nice.

Bottle at James's. Pours deep brown, nose is roasted, earthy, liquorice, taste is bitter, liquorice, ashy, earthy. --- Beer merged from original tick of Stepney Porter (vanilla) on 12 Jul 2021 at 14:16 - Score: 6

Bottle thanks to Ashton McCobb. Lively! Pours just-clear red brown with a thick beige head. Aromas of fruity black malt, liquorice, earthy. Taste has light coffee, stewed prunes, charcoal. Ashy finish.

Sample courtesy of Grumbo. Thanks. Black with a light brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, hard roasted malt, coffee and light vanilla. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and roasted moderate bitter finish. 211119

Sample courtesy Grumbo. Nice head with good duration. Color is close to black. Aroma and taste are roast malt, vanillia, little fruits, caramel, coffee and licorice. Nice roasty finish.

2/11/2019. Bottle from Vittles and Company, Hull. Pours almost black with a large foamy tan coloured head. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, dark fruit, coffee, liquorice and ash. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium to full body, oily slick texture, average carbonation. Sweet roasty finish. Decent.
