Bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours dark brown to black with a thin cream-coloured head. Aromas of dark chocolate, toffee, and a hint of the barrel. Taste is dark brown sugar, dark chocolate and a hint of wood again. Light smoke and dark fruit. Full bodied and rich in texture. Dry finish. Good.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - dark brown to black and opaque. Thin creamy head. Nose - dark chocolate, light fudge. The wood is more subtle. Taste - molasses, dark chocolate and some wood. Light charcoal and smoke. A hint of blackberry towards the end. Palate - full bodied and rich in texture. Fairly dry and balanced, especially less sweet and boozy than expected. Overall - not sure I'd have known this was a Wee Heavy style underneath as it seems to have a lot of stout characteristics as a result of the barrel ageing. Great stuff. Can drink now, but interesting to keep.
