Pours almost black color with thin quickly diminishing light brown head and poor lacing. Taste starts with sweet and rich roasted malt and chocolate, follows by honey, figs and licorice, mouthfeel is smooth and warm, while finish is mild bitter. best before 01-05-2023, tasted 09-04-2024 so i'm a year behind, give or take. Really good very roasted malty but still very smooth aroma, malts , dark malts, roasted malts are dominating but accompanied by other imp stouty notes like coffee, wood, dark dry chocolate even alc. Everything fits well together to create a whole that is much more top of the line imp stouty than just pastry stouty. Flavor is roasted malts, dark caramel, very slightly peppery, subtle honey sweetness (spicy dark honey). Flavor is really really good but not as good as aroma, still way past 8 and nearly made it past 8.5 to go to 9, but i'll stay at 8. it's very good 8 for sure. The beer is so well rounded, so easy drinking, so strong still and so complex that there is stuff to explore.. Not sure i can taste figs outright, but they probably added goodness to the overall flavor.
