A dark sour ale with Lime and Salt, Madonna and Child was inspired by Southern California’s love for Margaritas.
Intense citrus aroma with just a hint of sweetness, Madonna and Child begins with a refreshing lime tartness, balanced with some dark sugar and ending with a splash of salt and some spice from the tequila.

[2/3/17] Draught/Bottle at Extreme Beer Fest in Boston. Amber. Malt, caramel, spiciness, some cookies, oak, sweet and tart. Not my thing.

375 c&c from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours hazy ruddy brown with a slight tan head. Aroma is citrus, mixed booze, and maybe salt. Med body or a bit better. Flavor is somewhat lime, salt, musty wood, arguably berry fruit, and pretty sure Tequila!!! Sour? Well there’s the citrus/lime. Other than that, I’m not identifying any particular bacillus. It’s pretty dry stuff. For what it is, overpriced. For the effort of production, not so. Having paid the price I am striving hard to feel good about it. And I more or less do. The flavors are worth parsing and savoring. However, I never should have preceded this with Firestone Bravo. Next rounds I recommend including tomato and/or clam "nectar". Might make a great chelada.

750mL bottle, pours a deep dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma is bizarre, with lots of lime, floral notes, celery, salt and tequila barrels. Flavour brings out dark dried fruits, tequila barrels, lime, celery and little salt. Finishes with barrels, balsamic and lime. Bizarre as hell, but it works alright.
