A dark sour ale with Lime and Salt, Madonna and Child was inspired by Southern California’s love for Margaritas.
Intense citrus aroma with just a hint of sweetness, Madonna and Child begins with a refreshing lime tartness, balanced with some dark sugar and ending with a splash of salt and some spice from the tequila.

0,375l bottle from Beergium. Clear, amber beer with medium- head, which stays quite long, however. Aroma has malts, lemon, salt and tequila. Taste has salt and lime at first. Also some tequila and malts available. Medium body with long sour and tequila finish, which has some spicies also.

Shared 375ml bottle. Cloudy brown pour with a light beige head. Aroma of lime and tart fruit. Taste is a cross between a margarita, Sprite, and a sour red-brown, if you can imagine that. Doesn’t work for me.

Draught at EBF, 2/3/17.
A hazy, rather drab chestnut-caramel-looking beer with a dark beige head atop showing low retention.
The nose is spicy and floral with all sorts of odd interactions, dark fruits, vanilla, and even light sandalwood. I guessed gin, not knowing any ingredients in the beer, as the tequila really offers up a green, vegetal, almost floral character here. It’s interesting, if maybe not 100% focused in the nose, with light lime coming on the very end and some sharper wood and light alcohol, as well.
It fares better in the mouth, with brown sugar, caramelized honey, and sweet vanilla pitted against the woodiness of the barrel, the strong spicy-floral character of the tequila and the acidity from the lime. Not overly salty and with low carbonation and a lightly malty texture. The attenuation is high and yet it doesn’t seem sharply boozy or thin at this abv. Odd stuff and if not 100% successful, it’s innovative and fun, as always, from Lost Abbey.

@Ulfborg Scooper. Hazy dark amber, thick offwhite head. Lime soda aroma. Heavy lime flavour, some lime peel bitterness. Not bad for a 11% radler.
