Take a slight detour from the lighter side of the beer spectrum with this belter of an amber ale. All the dry-hopping you’d expect from a pale but with a troupe of malts smashing jammy biscuit and caramel notes into the fresh, fruity hops’ stupid faces.

330ml can. Murky dark amber, two finger beige head which leaves a nice creamy top. Funky earth-vegetation and sweet malt aroma; not the most inviting. Taste is sweet malts, caramel, earthy green hops, almost savoury in note, some jammy fruit elements in the finish. It tastes much better than it smells. Moderate body. Mixed.

Can from Cork & Cask. Hazy amber body with a lasting off-white head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of red grape, burnt caramel and toffee. Flavour of caramel, orange and fresh apricot. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. An excellent hoppy amber ale. One of my favourite Pilot beers.

Hazy amber, decent white head. Smells of marmalade and toast. Flavour is a lovely balance of sweet citrus, biscuity malt, a little bitter hop and possibly a touch of caramel taking a little of the sharpness off. Very crisp and refreshing with a lingering tartness. Lovely.
