Pour is a brown with a large tan head. Aroma is some sweet bubblegum and dough. Flavor is some wheat malt and that’s about it. An odd plastic comes out and doesn’t go away. Finish is thin and watery. This is no way a good dunkle weizen, more like someone’s first attempt at home brew. I’ve had a few Sprecher beers and they were decent but this was a poor attempt.

Draft at Old Fashioned. Thick, opaque burgundy brown, with a steady off-white head. Malty and rich, maybe a tad thicker than medium bodied. Some mild banana yeast tones under the smooth dark malts. Mellow and fairly enjoyable, this still can’t touch a good German example. Still a decent enough beer from Sprecher, no off flavors.

12 oz bottle from the brewery - a boring but inoffensive d-weizen - fairly dry in the nose, with notes of cocoa, nuts, yeast - watery texture, light flavor - tastes mostly of yeast and moderate dark malts - however, there are some more complex notes of cherry, chocolate, and raisin waaaaaay in the back that make things a bit more interesting - no flaws, just bland.

Bottle from a beer of the month club. Poured a clear dark brown with a small brown head. Aroma was weak with some roasted malts. Flavor seemed to be quite watery. I picked up some sweet roasted malts, but not much else.

This beer came in my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark nut brown color with a small khaki head. The aroma was somewhat faint dry, nutty malts with traces of banana and clove. The flavor was tart, tangy and a little bitter with light banana, clove and bubblegum. Medium length finish that turns a bit dry. Medium full body. Decent.
