25/5/2018. Cask at the 2018 Newark Beer & Cider Festival. Simply badged as Dark Ale but same 4.9%. Pours mahogany brown with a small bubbly beige head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, ash, fruit and veg with moderate roasting. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation.

Cask (gravity) @ NBF 2016 [ The 41th. Nottingham Beer Festival (The 9th Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival) ], Nottingham Castle, Friar Lane, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England NG1 6EB. [ As Thorley & Son Dark & Mysterious ].Clear dark red brown colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark malt, roasted, sweet malt, oyster stout alike, moderate yeasty, UK yeast. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average to long duration, candy, sweet malt, sweet yeast, dark malt, roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. Tried at the Newark Beer Festival 2016. Dark almost black colour with a tan head. Aroma is roasted malty with a berry hint, taste roasted bitter.
