Bottle 50 cl. Pours an almost clear, dark amber with a tiny, off-white head. Surprisingly little aroma, a hint of syrup, phenols and alcohol. Rich, malty body, some caramel, but it's rough, phenollic and very unrefined - hardly even sweet. Barley Wines can be rich and sophisticated or they can be a rough booze bomb - this belongs in the last category. Some years cellaring may smoothen this up a little, but I doubt it'll ever be a good BW. 041220

On tap at Skaal, pours a clear amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of caramel malt, dark dried fruits and restrained resinous hops. Flavour is very malty, with lots of resinous hops, caramel malt, and dark fruits. Really nicely balanced, with a caramely malty finish. Excellent.
