This rich, smooth stout is brewed with a blend of six malts, resulting in a welcoming, resonant black beer. From start to finish it carries an intense roastiness reminiscent of dark chocolate; a welcome which begins on the nose and continues into the long, deep aftertaste.

Each step in the recipe was decided by our investors, the product of our annual shareholder brewday. Their selected additions of cacao and coconut combine beautifully with the woody, stone fruit edge from the Galena hops, leaving you with a complex finish tinged with coconut.

Opaque brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is softish and semi dry. mild fine carbonation. Tangy mellow dark malts, touch of unsweet dark chocolate. Nowhere near as much as coconut as I was expecting, quite a light touch. Semi dry finish. If they were going for a Bounty Bar vibe, I don’t think this quite pulls it off but it’s tasty and drinkable.

330ml bottle @ Brewdog Helsinki (Disclaimer: yes, I own 2 Brewdog shares)

Pours pitch black with foamy dark brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, coconut, cocoa, white chocolate, coffee and syrup. Taste is smooth, malty, slightly roasty and nutty with some coconut, cocoa, vanilla, coffee and syrupy notes. Finish is smooth, malty and slightly roasty with some coconut, cocoa and milk chocolate. A bit light bodied, but pretty tasty and smooth coconut porter.

33 cl bottle @ BrewDog Helsinki. Batch #194: BBE 08.04.2016. Aroma has hay, peanuts, chocolate and licorice. Also coconut. Flavour has strong coconut notes, some licorice and hints of ash. Finises rather dry with some minerals. A bit foamy palate and feels a bit watery. Flavour is a bit disappointing after the aroma, this could rock with stronger body though. Thought at the end of the glass: too much coconut here.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - deep black with a lovely crema head. Nose - deep milk chocolate notes, hazelnut background. Taste - more of the same. The hazelnut is more forward. Palate - close to medium bodied with a dry nutty texture and a dry nutty finish. Overall - the coconut thing slowly comes through. This beer grows on me.
