Cask at Pig’s Ear 2015. It pours darkest (pretty much opaque) brown with a tiny beige head. The nose is rich, roasty, bitter-sweet character, Dandelion & Burdock, oily, plum, alcohol heat, fruit cake and prune juice. The taste is bitter-sweet, oily, umami, earthy toast, salted liquorice, big alcohol warmth, dried fruits, charred wood and coffee with a dry, charred wood finish. Medium - full body and fine carbonation. Rich and decadent. Perhaps it feels a touch heavy handed, although this could be due to the dispense method. Good fun overall.

Gravity dispense at Pigs Ear ’15, 01/12/15. Black with a decent tan covering. Nose is rich malt, spice, liquorice, molasses, chocolate biscuit. Taste is richer, molten fruit cake, hoppy back pangs, liquorice, sweet malt, raisens, chocolate. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light warming alcohol. Decent impy. Re Rake at RB HQ, Santa Rosa, 04/02/16. Bottle ... better than cask ... more nuanced. was 3.7 now 3.9.

Cask at Pigs Ear 2015, day 1 - London. Pours oily black-brown with a light beige film. Ashy roast in the aroma, with hints of iodine, chocolate, dark fruits. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with lots of dark malts, chocolate, light vanilla, toffee, some bitter char. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation; pretty well conditioned. Warming on the finish with more chocolate, raisins, burnt toffee, creamy vanilla. Quite tasty. Very good.

Shared bottle at RB/HD on board Fridtjofen 23.08.15. Black. Uneven, but persistent, brown head and lacing. Black. Aroma of dark chocolate, vanilla, liquorice, pine and coffee. Similar taste, with black malt, brittle and dark chocolate in taste. Smooth mouthfeel.

Flavours were burnt malts, sweetness, cocoa, coffee, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste had burnt malts, coca and bitterness. A very good dark and roasty brew.

66 cl bottle @ home. Batch #0146: bottled 02/2015, BBE 02/2020 Thanks tiong!
Aroma has pine needles, cocoa and coffee. Flavour has nettles, grapefruity hops, licorice and mild mineral tones. Sweet, but I like the licorice tones here. More like a black IPA than IS.
