[2/20/15] Draught at Societe in San Diego. Nice clear deep rddish amber. Aroma of malt, caramelly, toasty, nutty, a bit candy-ish, with nice piney and fruity hops. Sweet malty flavor with caramel, toast, and piney and fruity hops. Medium-bodied. Not bad!

Keg at Pizza Port Bressi Ranch, 14/11/14. Dark chestnut brown with a moderate beige swirl that retains. Nose is pine, dank hops, charr, spice, earthy red berry notes, bitter tropcial fruit, light roast. Taste comprises pine, dank hops, earthy roast, bitter grapefruit, red berry notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid CDA if a touch sweet in places which keeps this one a few below 4.

On tap at Societe, pours near-black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out roasted malt, toasted notes, and piney hops. Flavour brings out a good balance of roast and piney hops - extremely well-crafted and without any harshness. Excellent stuff.

Sample at the tasting room. This brew is a deep brown color with a medium tan head that recedes slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of roasted malt, hops and chocolate. Medium body with flavors of piney hops, toasted malt and cocoa. The finish is malty up front with a resiny hops aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

On tap. Pours with a brown hued body with a tan head. Aromas are of brown sugar, nutty, medium roast, hoppy and herbal. Flavors are bitter, roasty, herbal and grassy. Nutty finish. Medium-low bitterness. Lively carbonation, medium dry. Not my thing balance wise.
