I am very proud to introduce our newest project - Tight Rope Walker, an 8% Baltic Porter.
As I was looking for an artist to bring a new dimension to our can art design, I was contacted by friend of Forgotten Boardwalk, Steve Moore. Steve is a fan of Forgotten Boardwalk, and I am a fan of Steve!
When I first opened the brewery, Steve would come in for a beer or so and draw on our chalkboards. I wondered why he always drew Minions on the board, and I came to learn that it was because Steve worked on bringing story boards for both Despicable Me and the Minions movie to life! He’s a super talented animator that’s worked on story boards for Caroline, A Nightmare Before Christmas, Despicable Me and Sing and more. He’s even got an Oscar Nomination under his belt for Redux Riding Hood.
So, when Steve threw his hand in the air to do some can artwork, I literally jumped in excitement. We came up with a concept theme and decided we were going to rethink some classics sideshow characters and create some unsavory Boardwalk Villains.
I have gotten to live out my wildest fantasy and play pretend that I am an imagineer while working with this amazing illustrator. (I am not lost on the fact that Steve does not work for Disney. I still played pretend). Steve has been pushing artwork boundaries with each can design. We are exploring themes, stories and cartoonists such as R. Crumb. Steve was able to add art elements into his work that showcase some teeth, grit, and even some satire of American culture.
I present to you Pierre, our Tightrope Walker.

On tap at brewery. Dark brown color. Creamy beige head is small. Roasted malt aroma has chocolatey notes. Flavor follows nose. Rich and malty. Bittersweet chocolate flavor dominates. Sticky, chewy mouthfeel. Tasty.

At the source: pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is roasty, barrel in the nose, chocolate and molasses. Kind of sweet and roasty. Pretty smooth and easy. Not as complex as I would like.
