This now rare Berlin-Style wheat beer was once dubbed "The Champagne of the North" by Napoleon. "Sour Malt" combined with wheat yields a soft, yet distinctive version of this refreshing German classic. Known as a "Berliner Weisse", these mild, unfiltered beers were once the most popular beers in the North of Germany. Garnished with an orange or lemon.

Served on draft at the brewpub. Pours a hazy pale yellow-orange with a thin fizzy white head. Fair head retention. Aroma of tart citrus notes. The taste is soft wheat, caramel, tart citrus. Medium bodied. Refreshing. I’d like a bit more tartness, but it’s good.

Growler from the brewpub on 07/10/2010. Growlered on 07/08/10. Clear golden body with a medium rocky white head. Fairly tart aroma with some light fruit. Tart flavor, sweet fruit, apples and pears, with a grainy background. Light body with high carbonation.
