Black with a brown head - Malt and wood barrel aroma - Dark malt body with wood barrel aroma with some charred notes - Dark malt goes into the finish with wood - This was real good

Not often I really like a bourbon barrel aged beer This one was excellent Dark pour and a small head Fine intensity in the aroma. Pleasant sweetness and a fine carbonation level. Pleasant to drink Oak, toffee, mild bourbon, vanilla, some roast and a well masked alcohol level. [Bottle at Komlefjorden 24]

28.10.2024, 0,375l bottle (2024 vintage) @ hotel room in Sandane:
Nice light brown bubbly-creamy mediumlasting head, deep dark pour. Aroma is slightly dry roasted, leather, bourbon, dark malts, minerals, peat, licorice, dark sugar, oak, vanilla. Taste is sweet boozy, dark sugar, vanilla, bourbon, raisins, leather, oak, licorice, dark malts, dried dark fruits. Medium to longlasting bitterness, sweet boozy mouthfeel. Nice.

Bottle, 375ml, kindly shared by ChrisOfstad. It's black to dark brown in the glass, quite oily, and more or less headless. The aroma has a nice oak and bourbon touch, with a good dash of alcohol sting in the nose. Roasted malts, a burnt touch, some licorice and a hint of pecan nut, tending towards maple syrup. A quite unusual but very pleasant woody touch is present too, guess that's due to the hickory wood used to smoke the barrel. Can't recall I've had something like this before. It's oily and full-bodied on the palate, smooth and very softly carbonated, with a quite intense warmth. Roasted malts, some caramel sauce, a light burnt hint, molasses notes, booze, oak and some vanilla in the flavor. And also that same strange nutty, syrupy and woody touch found in the aroma. Strange but delicious. Lasting warming and quite sweet finish. Not really sticky in the mouth, guess the alcohol helps preventing that. Well, this was a nice surprise, really liked those unusual aromas and flavors. A bit alcohol intensice I think, else delicious indeed. A really expensive bottle at NOK 300, but sure worth the money. 241026
