The muse for Joyous is a fresh and bright yeast strain called Hothead Kveik. We harmonize with its vibrant tropical profile through a combination of aromatic Citra, Sabro and Azacca hops. With soft notes of tangelo, juicy papaya and subtle coconut, this refreshing IPA tops our list of sure signs that another joyous spring has sprung.

We taste: tangelo, juicy papaya, subtle coconut

Reviewed from notes.
On tap at Rising Sun Restaurant, Campbelltown, PA.
Appearance: murky orange to copper color with a small cap of a little white foamy head which dissipated fairly quick and didn't leave any lace.
Aroma: oranges, tangerines, lemons and papayas up front then some light notes of coconut, light hints of some clean malts
Flavor: melds the prior noted aromas together to a nice bittersweet quality; finishes orange/tangerine and papaya-like
Texture: light to medium bodied - maybe a touch closer to medium, slightly sessionable, some smoothness but also noticeable hop assertiveness
Overall: pretty nicely done IPA I could hang with again.

12 ounce bottle. Cloudy amber orange color. Large pillowy beige head settles to a symmetrical cap. Faint citrus aroma hints at orange and tropical fruit. Light, juicy, malty fruit flavor. Description says coconut, but I am hard-pressed to find it. Maybe a little bit on the back of the tongue. An Okay brew, but lacking any real complexity. Finishes thin with a hint of tangerine.

Another bottle of IPA. How many IPA are there going to be? Has IPA taken the place of the ubiquitous pale lager? I'll say so. 2 bucks at JR's. That place really has a nice cheap mix six section. Smell is typical IPA but it doesn't seem to have any BO on the olfactory. First taste is big bad IPA fer sher, no mistaken. Lots of hops. Not sure how IPA can be called joyous, just asking; unless its a rank er something. Its a slighter darker and cloudy thing on the eye. Big f, stealthy mig of a foamy head fades to larger ruff bubbles after a while. Yes, just another one of a gahzillion out there. So many domestic variegates of IPA and so many of those are below average. Lets make anything and if turns out to be bitter as bullshit, we'll just put an IPA label on it. In the end its not quite as mouthcoating as an IPA trying to be a double imperial, but it is IPA none-the less. There, you have it; will somebody give me a decent civilized cold pale lager to rinse with, thank you.

12 ounce can from Beer Run, 3/23/21. Hazy orange, large foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of tangerine, papaya, perfume, coconut. Taste is papaya, mango, pineapple, tangerine, pale malt. Medium bodied, juicy, nearly no bitterness. Decent.
